EXPERT ADVICE & TIPS
Adobe InDesign CS2
Draw overlapping text frames

Overlap and reposition text frames as you draw them without having to switch tools.

The Type tool in Adobe InDesign CS2 can draw text frames as well as edit text itself. But if you try drawing a new text frame on top of an existing one, the tool simply tries to edit the text inside the existing frame.

To get around this and draw overlapping text frames directly using the Type tool, start by drawing a new text frame on a blank area of the page. Before you release the mouse button, however, hold down the Spacebar and drag the frame so that it overlaps the other. Then release the Spacebar and continue drawing the frame as you wish before letting go of the mouse button.
